DVD Pickz

The Big Lebowski This is a total cult classic that inspires us all to be a bit more like "the dude". Check out the fans following the movie and check out LebowskiFest.com for the ultimate good time!
Crash See any of my earlier GLOB posts as to why I love this flick.
Donnie Darko Yeah. What they said!
Being John Malkovich I wish I would have been a fly on the wall when this script was presented! I love John Malkovich, whatever he' in!
Fargo The Coen brothers are absolutely nuts! Kudos to this talented and quirky cast for a movie I will watch again and again.
Short Cuts I do have a soft spot for Robert Altman films…but the reason this one is so great is, you are looking into a snippet of a person’s life, no background info, no explanations, you are just there…that kind of writing and directing intreagues me. For a film of this nature yet through the twisted yet brilliant eyes of Todd Solondz see Happiness.
The Usual Suspects Two words: Kaiser Sose.
Office Space Why it sucks to have a 9-5 job. At least I can laugh and point! Riiigght!
Rear Window This classic Hitchcock film has everything: guys, dames, suspense, and MURDER!
Like Water for Chocolate Based on the book of the same name by Laura Esquivel. This movie has beautiful cinematography and lyrical storytelling, even if it is sub-titled!

Brian Eno
Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy 1974
Eno is a brilliant musician and was way ahead of his time. Taking Tiger Mountain is one of my favorites, although all of his music has merit and can almost contradict itself. His collaborations with many other fantastic musicians are too many to name. Fuckin brilliant. Hell just read up on the dude become enlightened. Eno on Wikipedia
Cowboy Junkies
I can't pick one CD, they are so different and equally haunting in their own right. Margo Timmins has a voice that gives me goosebumps. From Wikipedia: The Trinity Session is perhaps their best known record, recorded live in a single day on a single microphone in a church in Toronto. This album also included a unique cover version of Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane". Reed reportedly liked the Junkies' version of the song better than his own, and began performing their version in concert.
Spoon
Girls Can Tell
This album haunts me.
Calexico
Even My Sure Things Fall Through
Calexico has the uncanny ability to have you sing along with lyrics that you wouldn't even say out loud. Fantastic musical touches.
David Sylvian
Secrets of the Beehive
David Sylvian has one of the most haunting deep male lyrical voices I know. If you like Roxy Music, David Bowie or Bauhaus…you will truly love David Sylvian. His lyrics are poetic and disturbed.
Duran Duran
Duran Duran 1981
What can I say, but this album formed me. I still love guys in eyeliner! John Taylor, yeah he's STILL hot!
The Smiths
Hatful Of Hollow
No matter what you think about Morrissey, The Smiths was the perfect combination with his voice and lyrical style plus the fantastic Johnny Marr on guitar and lyrics made me happy and sad all at the same time. I will tell you, if I want to clean the house, I just put on "Louder than Bombs" and hop around while cleaning. That guitar really gets me going!
Bad Religion
Generator
This band IS PUNK ROCK. Nothing can be more punk than their extremely poignant and intellectual lyrics, with biting social commentary, that makes even ME want to talk politics.
Nomeansno
Wrong and Sex Mad/You Kill Me
It was impossible to pick one. SO fuckin sue me! No Means No is incredible punk rock that can STILL put on a hell of a live show. See them live, it will change your life.
The Cure
Head on the Door
I had my first orgasm while listening to The Cure. What can I say, hella sexy music.
Pink Floyd
Wish You were Here
Nuff said.
